PROVENANCE
The Halsman Archive does not authenticate or appraise prints in private collectionsor on the secondary market in auctions or galleries.
Because of the complexities of provenance and the unique character of each print, only vintage prints purchased from our appointed gallery, CLAIRbyKahn, are certified authentic by the Halsman Archive.
VINTAGE PRINTS
Philippe Halsman produced a significant body of photographic work during his career. Halsman’s work was published in countless magazines around the world, including covers for LIFE, Look, Paris Match, Saturday Evening Post, Time, Stern, and TV Guide, among many others.
Philippe Halsman was a master printer. The best quality silver gelatin prints were made by him personally, in his own darkroom, with his wife Yvonne as his lifelong darkroom assistant. Halsman did not number his prints, and did not issue limited editions during his lifetime.

Vintage prints were made by Halsman himself and come directly from the Halsman Family Collection. They are of the highest quality and condition. Certificate of authenticity and release of sale, signed by the Archive and Gallery, are included.

After Halsman’s death in 1979, the Halsman Archive authorized the following editions:
Neikrug Press, 1981, two limited-edition (250) portfolios of 10 silver gelatin prints each:
